Supergirl star Matthias Schoenaerts was reportedly sentenced to six months in prison after being convicted of driving without a license and valid insurance. According to the Belga News Agency, he will have the opportunity to appeal the ruling to avoid serving the sentence. However, if his appeal doesn’t turn in his favor, then he will have to serve the sentence, which could hinder his promotions for Supergirl.
Matthias Schoenaerts reportedly sentenced to six months in prison for this reason
According to the Belga News Agency, Schoenaerts has been convicted of driving without a license and without valid insurance, resulting in a six-month prison sentence. Along with jail time, he has also been fined 4,000 euros and banned from driving in Belgium for one year. Court spokesperson Luc De Cleir told the outlet that Schoenaerts may not have to serve the sentence, as he still has the option to appeal the ruling. However, if he is required to serve the prison term in the future, it may interfere with his Supergirl promotional schedule.
Schoenaerts has faced 11 convictions already in the past. Last month, too, he was stopped by the authorities at Pelt without a driving license and also refused to give a breath test. According to the outlet, when his vehicle was towed, he behaved aggressively and was in custody for several hours. The new information still remains under investigation.
In September 2024, it was announced that Schoenaerts had landed the antagonistic role of Krem of the Yellow Hills in the Milly Alcock-led Supergirl. Set to release on June 26, 2026, the superhero movie centers on Superman’s cousin, Kara Zor-El, who, along with her dog Krypto, travels across the galaxy to enjoy her 21st birthday. Things take an unexpected turn when a tragedy sets her out on a dangerous quest for revenge, with Ruthye Marye Knoll by her side.
