Actress Nicole Kidman has been leaning on an unexpected friend’s shoulder during her split from musician Keith Urban. The Babygirl star has been keeping in close contact with fellow Aussie actor Russell Crowe as she heads towards divorce.
The actors have a decades-long friendship, with Russell once referring to Nicole as “one of my favorite people in the universe.”

Multiple sources who are close to Nicole and Russell have said he has been a sounding board for her and providing needed advice that she can’t get from others, according to OK! Magazine.
After much scrutiny about their marriage, Nicole and Keith announced their separation last September after 19 years of marriage. The two share daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.
While Nicole received accolades for 2024’s erotic thriller Babygirl, and a new legal drama Discretion is getting much buzz, Keith says he is both “lonely” and “miserable” on his tour.
An industry source with connections to the stars said Russell, “understands exactly how devastating it is when a long marriage ends. He’s lived through that heartbreak himself, so when Nicole leaned on him, he didn’t hesitate. People think he’s all hard edges, but with her he’s showing a much softer side.”
Another source who has worked with Russell in the past noted, “He’s been touching base with Nicole nearly every day, making sure she isn’t retreating into herself. They caught up over coffee not long ago, and you could see he was trying to lift her spirits. He’s hardly the warm and fuzzy type, but he’s fiercely loyal to the people he considers his own.”
Although the pair is not often photographed together, they co-starred as a married couple in 2018’s Boy Erased. Nicole also served as vice president of the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts when Russell was president in 2020.
Russell has been in a relationship with Britney Theriot for the last five years. Sources say he has a friendship with Nicole that is not romantic.
