Kansas City Chiefs superstar Travis Kelce is showing he might shine just as bright off the field as he does on it. On a recent episode of New Heights with Jason & Travis Kelce, he chatted with Hollywood icon George Clooney, talking about life after the NFL. Kelce hinted he’s game to try acting, especially if he gets a call from childhood faves like Adam Sandler.
Travis Kelce reveals his acting aspirations to George Clooney
On the podcast, Travis Kelce looked back at his cameo as a waiter in Happy Gilmore 2 and couldn’t stop raving about working with Adam Sandler. “Just the best, man. Adam, such a good dude, man,” he said.
The tight end added that the gig left a significant mark on him, and if legends like Sandler or Clooney ever called him back, he’d be there in a flash. “As long as I’m getting asked by guys like Adam Sandler, you know, my heroes growing up, man, I’m gonna be there in a heartbeat,” he told Clooney.
On the podcast, George Clooney also shared some playful digs about missing his own shot in Happy Gilmore 2 while praising Kelce’s performance. “Dude, I play a great waiter. You have no idea,” he joked. The back-and-forth showed off Kelce’s ease on camera, making it clear that he could easily cross over into Hollywood.
Beyond podcast appearances, Travis Kelce has dipped his toes into scripted TV, too, playing Ed Laclan on FX’s Grotesquerie. He said working with co-star Niecy Nash-Betts had him checking himself as he does on the field. “I was definitely watching myself, but it’s the same thing with, like, my view on football or really anything that I do.”
Even on lighter gigs like game shows, Kelce brings his A-game. Talking about his stint on Amazon’s Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?, he admitted he was always looking for ways to improve. “Even like the game show that I did on Amazon [Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?], I look at myself, and I’m like, ‘Man, I could’ve did that better, I could’ve did this better, I could’ve did this better. “
