Sports Analyst Predicts Travis Kelce Retirement for This Reason

Travis Kelce’s career as a football player may be coming to an end. That’s one sports insider believes about the Kansas City Chiefs star in the final year of his contract with the team.

The tight end has had an illustrious career in the NFL, considered by many to be the greatest player at his position. He’s won three Super Bowls and been selected to 10 Pro Bowls in what is currently his 13th season in the league. The Chiefs are in danger of missing the playoffs, on the outside of the post-season picture with four games remaining.

The end of the line may be coming soon for Travis, who doesn’t need to depend on football anymore. The NFL star is marrying Taylor Swift, and given her wealth and his public image, at least one insider believes the 2025 season is the optimal time for Travis to retire.

Sports pundit Stephen A. Smith says he’s so financially stable and has so many good things going for him outside of football that “now would be the time for him to step away.” Stephen added to US Weekly that “He (Travis) would instantly make it into television.”

Travis has already appeared in numerous commercials and co-hosts a hit podcast with his brother, Jason, called New Heights. Along with that and his upcoming marriage to the Taylor, he’s been in movies before, most recently Happy Gilmore 2.

Across the board, nobody doubts that he’ll be a first ballot Hall of Famer when he retires. What may be questionable, though, is his motivation to keep playing at this stage of his career. Travis has won everything there is to win in the NFL, including setting the Chiefs’ all-time career touchdown catches record earlier this year. While his career has been hugely successful, he’s had his share of injury problems, and some believe that at 36 it’s not worth the risk for him to keep playing.

After the loss to the Houston Texans this past weekend, his teammate Patrick Mahomes said that he’s cherishing the time he may have remaining with Travis. If they miss the playoffs, Travis’ potential last game will be January 4 against the Las Vegas Raiders.
