“The Hunger Games” actor Josh Hutcherson has stirred up some drama after clarifying in a recent interview that he is not part of the Taylor Swift fandom. Hutcherson took part in i‑D magazine’s “Camera Roll Roulette” segment with Jordan Firstman, and a simple question about whether he was a Swiftie turned into a heated debate online. His comment, in turn, sparked bigger reactions than he might have expected.
Fans slam Josh Hutcherson for his ‘I am not a Swiftie’ comment
During the segment, “The Hunger Games” actor showed a photo from Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour” — a picture of him and his mom at the show. Firstman called it “really cute,” and Hutcherson immediately explained that his mom made him go. When Firstman asked if he was a Swiftie, Hutcherson replied, “I’m not a Swiftie. Very much not.” He added, “No shade, all respect, but definitely not.” Firstman joked back, “A little tiny shade. She can handle a little bit of shade.”
The short clip made its way to social media, and some Swift fans did not take it lightly, with one viewer posting a photo of Hutcherson at the “Eras Tour,” writing that he must have gone “for some attention.” Others accused him of using the tour’s popularity even though he is not a fan.
One person wrote, “This is the most pathetic and two-faced thing I’ve seen multiple celebs do,” while another added, “Noooo, Josh, why did you do this?? I was rooting for you.”
But many fans came to his defense, pointing out that he never insulted Swift — just clarified that he is not part of the fandom. One commenter wrote, “Just because he’s not a Swiftie, it doesn’t mean he did not have a good time or enjoy himself.” Another said, “Call me crazy, but I think he was referring to the ‘Swifties’ and not ‘Taylor.’”
Hutcherson has attended the “Eras Tour,” where he exchanged friendship bracelets at Swift’s 2024 New Orleans show while filming “Five Nights” at Freddy’s 2.
