Kim Kardashian plunged into the designer archives once again and pulled out a Christian Dior skirt suit. She donned the outfit in a new picture from her recently shared Instagram carousel. This is another of those instances when she expressed her love for archival fashion by recreating Cindy Crawford’s look from 1997, but with a few twists.
Kim Kardashian brings back Cindy Crawford’s ’97 Dior skirt suit, but with a twist
In the newly shared Instagram carousel, the first picture showed Kim Kardashian in a festive red Dior skirt suit that resembles a look from the house’s Fall/Winter 1997 collection. Legendary model Cindy Crawford graced the runway in Paris in March 1997 in a similar outfit. The iconic number was from John Galliano’s first ready-to-wear collection for Dior after his couture collection debuted in January 1997.
The original piece that Crawford modelled appeared to feature a full-length gown layered with a double-breasted, floral-designed jacket with geometric short sleeves. Layered beaded red necklaces, long earrings, dramatic makeup, and a high updo completed her runway look.
The SKIMS co-founder’s Dior skirt suit comprised the same jacket. However, she swapped the gown for a long pencil skirt in the same floral design as the jacket. Not to mention the thigh-high slit in the skirt that was notably absent from the skirt of Crawford’s gown. The “All’s Fair” star styled her black hair in a curled-up bob with a middle part. She completed the look with large drop earrings, some rings, and silver heels.
In another picture from the same carousel, Kardashian posed in a suit from Donna Karan’s Spring 1989 ready-to-wear collection. The cloudy grey suit, modelled by Brynia on the runway, comprised a white shirt worn with a long blazer that tied at the waist and a pair of loose trousers. The reality TV star-turned-actor kept her look the same as the original one, and accessorised with stud diamond earrings.
