As the Kansas City Chiefs lose another important game, their chances of making it to the playoffs are now really slim. Amid their not-so-great form throughout the season, Travis Kelce seems to be keeping his distance from the media, post the Chiefs’ losses. Addressing this publicly, Kansas City radio host Pete Mundo shared his candid thoughts on Kelce’s media silence.
Travis Kelce slammed by radio host for ‘not talking’ to media
Pete Mundo let it all out in a post on X (formerly Twitter), calling out Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce for avoiding the media after his losses this season. This post came after the Chiefs’ recent loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday, after which Kelce seemingly didn’t speak with the media again. “Is ANYONE else in KC media going to call out Travis Kelce for consistently NOT talking with the media after losses this season?” Mundo wrote.
“I respect the hell out of his career, but it’s completely childish and lacking leadership that he has continued to get away with this,” he added. Then, mentioning how he only speaks to reporters after wins, the radio host remarked, “Two weeks ago, we get his Mahomes ‘Kermit the Frog’ impression after they beat the Colts. They win, he’s in a good mood, he’ll talk. But once again, after his worst game of the season, and with the season on the brink, he can’t give a few basic quotes? Something as simple as, ‘We’ve gotta play better’ or ‘We won’t give up on the season’?”
The Kansas City Chiefs currently stand at 6-7 with a two-game losing streak after their win against the Colts on November 23. Now, making it to the playoffs directly seems difficult for them, with a wild-card entry as their only path to the postseason. Meanwhile, Mundo further added, “That’s what leaders on teams do. They don’t sulk. They don’t avoid the media consistently after bad games. The rest of the guys are answering questions. But Travis Kelce, the biggest celebrity on the team, a 13-year NFL veteran and one of the highest-paid players on the team skips out?”
