Andy Dick has provided an update following an incident on a Los Angeles street, which drew emergency responders and raised new concerns about the comedian. The incident happened in Hollywood, where Dick was photographed slumped on outdoor steps as people tried to assist him.
Andy Dick says he’s ‘okay’
TMZ published photos showing the 59-year-old actor seated on a staircase outside a Hollywood building on December 9. In the images, Dick appeared unresponsive as people around him attempted to steady and revive him. The sighting quickly prompted a call to authorities, with both the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) and the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) reportedly responding to the scene.
An LAFD representative told the outlet that crews were dispatched for an emergency involving a 59-year-old man. Despite the medical scare, the representative said the individual was not transported to a hospital. They also reported that LAPD officers arrived to provide support, though neither department confirmed to the outlet who the man was. The comedian later spoke briefly to TMZ, telling the outlet he was alive and okay. He did not offer further comment or an explanation of what happened before or during the incident.
Dick, who is a father to three adult children — sons Jacob and Lucas and daughter Meg — has experienced a tumultuous past marked by struggles with alcohol and drug addiction, as well as multiple arrests over the years. His career also faced controversy in 2017 when he was fired from a film amid sexual harassment allegations. At the time, he addressed the situation to The Hollywood Reporter, saying, “I didn’t grope anybody. I might have kissed somebody on the cheek to say goodbye and then licked them. That’s my thing.” He also denied intending any form of sexual harassment.
As of now, no further updates on the reported incident have been released.
