Jeffrey Epstein’s royal connections extended beyond the UK. Princess Sofia of Sweden met the disgraced financier several times in 2005 during her days as a lingerie model. This revelation was confirmed by the Swedish Royal Court.
Her introduction to Jeffrey came a year before the latter received a soliciting prostitution arrest. It was a relationship that the convicted child sex offender reportedly wanted to pursue further. Jeffrey learned about Sofia through her mentor, Swedish businesswoman Barbro Ehnbom. She allegedly emailed him in December 2005 with a picture of the brunette. That seemed to spark Jeffrey’s interest.

Numerous lives have been ruined, some permanently, after visiting Jeffrey’s infamous island. Fortunately, the future wife of Prince Carl-Philip was one of those who avoided that kind of scarring.
Jeffrey apparently emailed Barbro back to invite Sofia to his island. “I’m in the Caribbean. Does she want to come for a couple of days? I’ll send a ticket,” said Jeffrey, per records obtained by Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter. The court says that she never wound up going to the infamous island, which served as a primary location for a large-scale sex trafficking enterprise involving Jeffrey. The court added that “The princess has not had any contact with the person in question for 20 years.”
Perhaps Sofia’s wild past served as a good lesson for her about the dangers of interacting with strangers. She had the reputation of being a party girl before meeting Jeffrey. In 2004, she posed topless for the magazine Slitz. She was also previously on the reality TV dating series Paradise Hotel in 2003.
After that experience, she moved to New York City and became a certified yoga instructor. The soon-to-be Princess detailed days of partying in The Big Apple, including meeting actor Mark Wahlberg.
Jeffrey died in prison in 2019, but plenty of people he interacted with are making news. One is President Donald Trump. Author and royal historian Andrew Lownie alleged that Jeffrey introduced the future President to his current wife, Melania, something the First Lady denies.
Sofia and Prince Carl-Philip were married in 2015.
