Amy Schumer says she and husband Chris Fischer to focus on raising son after split
Posting on social media alongside a candid photo of the pair riding the subway, Schumer wrote, “Amicable and all love and respect! Family forever,” adding that both she and Fischer will continue to focus on raising their six-year-old son.
Schumer, 44, and Fischer, 45, married in February 2018 and welcomed their son the following year. In her statement, Schumer stressed that while their marriage has ended, they will continue to move forward as a family. The actress described the separation as a “difficult decision” but made it clear that co-parenting their child remains their shared priority moving forward. “We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son. We would appreciate people respecting our privacy at this time.”
Schumer also used the announcement to shut down potential rumors before they could take hold. She joked that the divorce had nothing to do with her recent weight loss and wasn’t because Fischer is an “award-winning chef who can still pull some hot tail.”
Throughout their marriage, Schumer and Fischer frequently collaborated professionally. They appeared together on the Food Network series Amy Schumer Learns to Cook, which aired during the COVID-19 pandemic and gave fans an inside look at their home life. The couple also shared their story in the documentary series Expecting Amy, which followed Schumer through her challenging pregnancy. In the series, she spoke openly about living with endometriosis and the complications she faced while preparing to become a mother.
