The actors apparently showed up at the home after the alleged double homicide was reported, according to People. The pair reportedly visited on the evening of Sunday, December 14. A neighbor noted that Billy seemed particularly shaken by the news, telling ABC 7 Los Angeles that he “looked like he was about to cry.”
Billy and Rob had a decades-long friendship. They met on the set of sitcom All In The Family in 1975, and their onscreen friendship blossomed offscreen. Billy told The Hollywood Reporter in 2016: “It worked really well, and we said, ‘It feels right onstage, why don’t we just continue this in our lives? We became the closest of friends. And when I moved out [to Los Angeles], we just spent all kinds of time together.”
The pair went on to collaborate on several other projects, including When Harry Met Sally, This Is Spinal Tap and The Princess Bride. Rob also had professional ties to Larry David, having starred in an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm in 2001.
Rob and Michele were found dead in their home on Sunday. The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) responded to a call at around 3:30 p.m, reports People. The couple’s son, Nick, has since been arrested. Rob had made comments about loving “all” his children in an interview shortly before his death.
Rob worked as a director, producer, writer and actor for decades. Some of his most-loved movies include Stand by Me, When Harry Met Sally, This Is Spinal Tap, The Princess Bride and Misery.
