Rob Reiner recently alluded to his relationship with his children – including a rather telling comment about loving them equally. In an interview recorded a few months before his death, the Hollywood director made a comparison between his kids and his favorite movies.
Rob Reiner said he loved “all” of his children, “even the bad ones”

During an interview with Piers Morgan in September, the filmmaker was asked which of his movies he felt would leave the best legacy. In response, he explained that he loved them all, seemingly using his kids as a metaphor.
He said: “Well, I mean, listen, people have their favorites. [It’s] the cliché, ‘We love all our children, even the bad ones.’” He ultimately chose Stand By Me, explaining: “I don’t know that it’s the best — that’s for other people to decide — but it’s the one that meant the most to me because it really is an extension of my personality and my sensibility.”
The director and his wife Michele were found dead at their home on December 14. While the investigation is ongoing, the couple’s son Nick was arrested on Monday, per Page Six. Records show he’s being held at the Los Angeles Police Department jail, with his bail set at $4 million.
Tributes have poured in for the Hollywood legend since his death. Stephen King wrote on X: “I’m horrified and saddened by the death of Rob Reiner and Michele. Wonderful friend, political ally, and brilliant filmmaker (including 2 of mine). Rest in peace, Rob. You always stood by me.”
Elton John wrote: “I am in disbelief at today’s news of Rob and Michele. They were two of the most beautiful people I’d ever met and they deserved better.”
Among Rob’s other most beloved movies are This Is Spinal Tap, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, A Few Good Men, and Misery.
