Kin Shriner’s dream this past weekend turned into a nightmare. His former General Hospital co-star, Anthony Geary, died on Sunday in Amsterdam. The two had been regulars on the soap opera for years, with Kin portraying Scott Baldwin since 1977. Anthony joined the cast a year later as Luke Spencer.
On X, Kin said he was hit by a General Hospital dream that he couldn’t explain. On Sunday, he says he got his answer: “Tony was saying goodbye to both of us.” Anthony’s death has been attributed to complications that arose from a surgical procedure days earlier.
Genie Francis also had a strange dream before learning of Anthony Geary’s death
Kin wasn’t the only General Hospital performer to have a funny feeling this past weekend. Genie Francis talked on social media about what she was going through. She talked about how lucky she was to have Anthony as a partner on the show for so many years. Genie said that “somehow, somewhere, we are connected to each other.” The actress went on to say that she felt him leave on Sunday night.
Genie joined the General Hospital cast at the same time as Anthony. Their on-screen characters, Laura and Luke, got married in November 1981. That event was viewed by an estimated 30 million people, making it, at the time, the highest-rated hour in American soap opera history. They were nominated as America’s Favorite Couple at the Daytime Emmy Awards.
Tributes have been pouring in since news of Anthony’s death became known. Former General Hospital star John Stamos posted a touching message online upon hearing what happened. The Full House alum said he’d often stay late after his scenes to learn from Anthony.
During his time on the show, Anthony won eight Daytime Emmy Awards. Genie was named Outstanding Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Laura Spencer in 2007.
