Cailee Spaeny has set the straight about the dating rumors between her and Jacob Elordi. In an appearance on Today, Spaeny was asked about the famous karaoke phone wallpaper photo. She casually remarked, “Oh, that’s very nice.” The interviewer mentioned that the on-screen pair broke the internet with the picture.
Spaeny shared, “This was a great night. He’s a dear friend, and I’m so proud of him. He came to London, and I was in town, and the only way to celebrate anything is a night of karaoke. So this is us probably singing ‘Shakira’ or something, and we were just celebrating his incredible performance in Frankenstein. He’s just got two Golden Globe nominations for Frankenstein and his show Narrow Road to the Deep North, and I’m just so proud of him.”
One of the interviewers prodded the 27-year-old actress to show her screen saver. Spaeny quipped, “I’m just a grandma. I just took a film photo of a nice rosebush.”
In his recent interview with Gwyneth Paltrow on Variety’s Actors on Actors, the Frankenstein star revealed he doesn’t hear “I love you” enough. Paltrow gushed over Elordi, “It’s so nice to be here talking to you. My children are very jealous. My son looks up to you; my daughter is in love with you. I probably will be too, by the end of this.”
To this, Elordi responded, “Well, that’s the thing you always get. Every person says, ‘Oh, my mom loves you. My daughter loves you. My girlfriend loves you.’ It’s never, ‘I love you.’”
