Marvel Star Set To Make Broadway Debut in 2026

Are you a fan of Marvel movies? And Broadway plays? Well boy, are you in luck. Simu Liu, best known for his role in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, is set to make his big theater debut early next year with a role in Oh, Mary! The play has already welcomed a series of famous faces since it opened last year.

Simu, who has also starred in Kim’s Convenience and Barbie, is taking on the role of “Mary’s Teacher” in the celebrated play. You’ll have to be quick if you want to see the actor tread the boards, though. His run at NYC’s Lyceum Theatre starts on February 3 and ends on April 21.

The actor and Paul Dano fan will be making his Broadway debut alongside fellow thespians John Cameron Mitchell, Tony Macht and John-Andrew Morrison, reports People.

Oh, Mary! opened last summer and has already smashed records – including being the Lyceum’s first play to earn more than $1 million in a single week. Previous stars to take on a role in the popular show include Jane Krakowski (who finishes her run in January), Tituss Burgess, and Jinkx Monsoon.

Simu has previously spoken about his desire to appear on Broadway. He told People in 2023: “I think I’ve always had a bit of an aspiration for it,” he says. “I grew up with a real reference for theater. I was able to do it a few times in Canada. There’s more agency [on the stage] as an artist than kind of showing up to set and then having an editor and director go off into a room and crop the story based on what you do,” Simu adds. “So, that will always be really interesting to me.”
