Emma Perry and Ziad El Yahyaoui are one of several new couples featured on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days Season 8. Before the 90 Days follows Americans as they travel abroad to meet their international partners for the first time. After meeting on an international dating app, Emma decided it was finally time to meet her Moroccan boyfriend, Ziad, in person. She felt like their connection was real and genuine, and was excited to get to Morocco and meet him.
Unfortunately, Emma’s trip didn’t start off as well as she had hoped it would. Emma and Ziad have already had a lot of conflict in a short amount of time. While they still have a few weeks to get to know each other in person, things aren’t looking good. Will Emma and Ziad be able to fix things and make their relationship work? Or will Emma leave Morocco brokenhearted?
Emma Perry and Ziad El Yahyaoui’s first meeting didn’t go well during the 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days Season 8 premiere
Emma and Ziad were the first couple to meet in person this season, although it didn’t go as well as they had expected. When Ziad went to pick up Emma at the airport, he refused to meet her directly outside as he felt it would be too busy. Instead, he had Emma walk a few blocks away to meet him. This resulted in Emma struggling down the street with multiple suitcases in heels. Emma was a bit frustrated, but was still excited to see Ziad.
When they first saw each other, Emma and Ziad shared a hug and seemed happy. Ziad told Emma that she looked even prettier in person, and she was happy with how he looked as well. However, when Emma asked if her body was as Ziad expected, he quickly became angry. Emma then revealed that Ziad had texted her on the plane and told her they couldn’t do anything sexual. This confused Emma, as Ziad had previously told her, while filming a video call, that he would kiss her at the airport.
Ziad claimed that he thought Emma was referring to a kiss on the cheeks, which is popular in Moroccan culture. When he tried to give her this type of kiss, she pulled away, saying she didn’t want to ruin her makeup. Ziad was clearly unhappy and claimed that it would be the last time he tried to kiss Emma. The situation turned awkward fast and resulted in Emma storming away.
Emma and Ziad’s relationship in person has been way different than their online interactions
Based on their previous conversations, Emma expected that Ziad would be flirty and touchy in person. He had previously claimed that they could do anything in public since she was “his girl”. However, once Emma arrived, Ziad completely changed his story and expectations. This is a red flag, as Ziad should’ve been more upfront with Emma before she came to see him.
Apart from their initial argument, the interactions between Emma and Ziad have lacked romantic chemistry. Emma admitted that Ziad seemed a little awkward to her after they arrived at their hotel and had dinner. While Ziad might need some time to warm up to Emma, their first day didn’t go as Emma expected it to. While things like this do happen on Before the 90 Days, they’re still disappointing.
Emma is hiding a big secret from Ziad that could ruin their relationship
To make things even more complicated, Emma is hiding a huge secret from Ziad. A year before going to meet Ziad, Emma flew to Morocco to meet another man. They ended up getting engaged, although they broke up shortly after.
Emma admitted that she’s nervous to tell Ziad about her Moroccan ex. After Emma met Ziad, she temporarily ghosted him while she considered getting back with her ex. Ziad is already suspicious about what Emma was doing during that time, so he will likely be angry when he finds out. If Ziad is really betrayed by the news, he could decide to end things with Emma.
While it’s still early in the season, things are already looking rocky for Emma and Ziad. Hopefully, they can work things out, but the odds aren’t looking to be in their favor for the time being.
