The Kansas City Chiefs aren’t ready to throw in the towel just yet. That’s the declaration tight end Travis Kelce has made days after his team was officially eliminated from playoff contention.
It will be the first time they aren’t in the postseason since 2014. The Chiefs have been the dominant team in the NFL since Patrick Mahomes became their starting quarterback. Before this season, they had made it seven straight AFC Championship Games and five Super Bowls, winning three of those. The Chiefs lost 16-13 to the Los Angeles Chargers, and Patrick suffered a torn ACL.
Travis Kelce and the Chiefs are “gonna give you everything we’ve got”

Travis’ playing career may soon be ending, but he’s determined to finish this season strong. On Wednesday’s episode of his podcast New Heights, he had a message for Chief fans. “Chiefs Kingdom, we’re gonna give you everything we got,” promised Travis.
Their season ends on January 4 against the Las Vegas Raiders. That could be the final time we see Travis playing football, or at least with Kansas City. His contract expires at the end of this season.
While expressing disappointment about not getting another crack at the Super Bowl, Travis says that he and the team are determined to “end on the highest note that we can.” Doing it without Patrick will be something Travis is not accustomed to. However, that’s something he’ll have to contend with as the quarterback underwent ACL surgery this week.
Travis has played his entire career with the Chiefs and, earlier this year, earned some praise from his brother and podcast co-host Jason. That’s because he set the franchise record for all-time touchdown catches.
At 36 and given his history of injuries, it’s believed now is the right time for him to retire. Sports pundit Stephen A. Smith says he could retire for life. He’s been in his share of shows and commercials and is engaged to pop icon Taylor Swift.
