R&B star, Tremaine Neverson, otherwise known as Trey Songz, was recently arrested in New York City. His charges include multiple misdemeanors, stemming from two separate instances in Manhattan this month. His attorney has already released a statement. And now, Trey is awaiting his next court date.
Trey Songz was charged with felony criminal mischief and multiple misdemeanor assault allegations
According to NBC News, New York City prosecutors are charging Trey for two altercations this month, per court documents. The most recent incident occurred on Sunday at 206 E. 34th St., where the Mira Mediterranean & Hookah Lounge resides. Here, Trey received one count of felony criminal mischief, thanks to a confrontation that seemingly happened around 4 a.m. As this complaint claims, Trey racked up over $1,500 in damages to “various restaurant property,” like hookahs, DJ equipment, and furniture.
His attorney, Mitchell Schuster, has already released a statement on this incident. As he suggests, Trey is not at fault. Instead, other individuals confronted this artist. Then, they “instigated a confrontation and attempted to surround him.”
Furthermore, “His security intervened to protect him and contain the situation, and an altercation occurred in the ensuing confusion.” Additionally, “Public figures” often find themselves “targets for instigation in pursuit of headlines or financial gain. We are confident the facts will speak for themselves.”
As for the other incident, this one reportedly occurred on December 4 at 1604 Broadway. Here, Trey allegedly struck someone in “the face with a closed fist, causing swelling and substantial pain,” claimed prosecutors in Manhattan. They further noted that Trey “struck, shoved, kicked, and otherwise subjected another person to physical contact.”
Trey is now staring down a litany of misdemeanors. He has two counts of third-degree assault, attempted assault, and aggravated harassment. His arraignment happened last Sunday. His release from jail followed. And now, Trey is awaiting his next day in court.
