You’ve seen passionate pop music stans diss other artists online. Getting into arguments with them in person, however, is not so common.
Rihanna faced the wrath of fellow concertgoers at a Mariah Carey concert in Las Vegas on Saturday. The singer was met with polarized reactions online when footage of the 37-year-old being yelled at by an audience member at Mariah’s Christmastime show quickly went viral.
Some social media users thought Rihanna was simply fangirling out hearing a pop hit. Others, however, felt this was typical celebrity entitlement.
Rihanna stood on a chair, angering fans behind her
The clip, captured by another concertgoer, was uploaded online and quickly spread. During a rendition of Mariah’s seminal pop classic We Belong Together, an excited Rihanna stood on her chair to get a premium view. The Fenty Beauty billionaire energetically danced and waved her arms in the air, blowing kisses and mouthing words to the performer on stage.
Fans, however, appeared less happy with their view being blocked by the star. Especially with premium ticket prices in Las Vegas. One concertgoer can be heard addressing Rihanna, causing the Umbrella singer to turn around and take her eyes off the show.
Although the sound isn’t clear, a shocked – and somewhat annoyed – Rihanna eventually stepped off the chair and rejoined her fellow crowd members. The star then turned to mouth some inaudible words back at the concertgoer who made her turn around in the first place. She didn’t seem too angry, but getting on RiRi’s bad side is a BAD idea.
Although Rihanna was eventually compliant, the lambs are fiercer than their fan name suggests. Not the best experience to have when trying to hear your favorite song!
