Kevin Spacey is set to return to the small screen … on Italian TV, that is. The House of Cards star has been attempting to revive his ailing acting career following allegations of sexual assault that began in 2017. Now, he’s landed a gig in a comedy show – playing himself. Don’t call it a comeback, call it … well, something else.
Kevin Spacey will play himself in an Italian comedy
Kevin was fired by Netflix in 2017, following multiple accusations of sexual assault. His career has not fully recovered in the years since. He has, however, had a few movie roles, including playing the devil in 2024’s The Contract.
Now the actor is making the move to Italian TV, as he’s set to star in Minimarket. The low-budget comedy show will be broadcast on state TV channel RAI. The show follows a convenience store worker living in Rome (played by Filippo Laganà), who has Kevin as an imaginary friend.
The Horrible Bosses star has faced numerous allegations of sexual misconduct. He has denied the allegations, but faced criticism when he tried to deflect from the initial accusations in 2017 by using it as an opportunity to come out.
He was also cleared of sexual abuse charges in 2022 and 2023. New allegations came to light last month, with a 2026 court date likely.
The actor made headlines last month following an interview in which he talked about having “no home.” Speaking with the Telegraph, he said he was living in hotels and Airbnbs, and “going where the work is.”
He later took to Instagram to clarify that he wasn’t homeless “in the colloquial sense,” and to thank the “thousands of people” who had reached out to offer him a place in the fall out.
The same interview also revealed that he had been paid €1,200 ($1,400) per head to sing in a nightclub in Cyprus.
