Meg Ryan has nothing but fond memories of her time with Rob Reiner. The actress starred opposite Billy Crystal in When Harry Met Sally, which Rob directed.
She called he and wife Michele’s death an impossible tragedy. Meg added that she hoped that in the face of this sadness and shock, something good could come out of this and perhaps raise awareness. Rob and Michele were found stabbed to death in their Brentwood home on Sunday. Their son Nick is facing first-degree murder charges in the matter.
Meg Ryan remembered Rob and Michele Reiner’s “profound love of our country”

Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened. That famous quote seems to be how Meg is approaching this unspeakable tragedy. On her Instagram account, Meg had a special message for Rob. “Thank you for your faith in the best in people and for your profound love of our country.”
Rob and Michele’s love played a significant role in the movie that saw Meg, Billy, and Rob all earn Golden Globe nominations. In 2018, Rob revealed that he was inspired to change the ending of When Harry Met Sally after falling for Michele on the set of the movie. She was a photographer. He said he’d been single for so long and thought he’d never meet anybody.
Meg’s co-star from that film, Billy, along with Seinfeld co-creator Larry David, were reportedly at Rob’s home after his death. Meg, along with Billy, reunited earlier this year for a Super Bowl commercial. The ad re-created their movie scene in Katz’s Deli, where Meg acts as though she’s having an orgasm, prompting someone to famously say, “I’ll have what she’s having.”
The movie earned Nora Ephron an Academy Award nomination for Best Screenplay – Written directly for the screen. Rob was 78.
