Travis Kelce shares his thoughts on Patrick Mahomes’ ACL injury
Travis Kelce talks about Patrick Mahomes’ ACL injury on the December 17 episode of the New Heights podcast. Kelce expressed his disappointment over Mahomes’ unfortunate injury. The team lost that match, suffering a crushing 13–16 defeat against the Chargers, bidding adieu to their playoff dreams.
Kelce said, “First things first, obviously, we lost our quarterback, Patty Mahomes, our guy, our man, our fearless leader, and our face of the franchise. It’s never easy seeing your guys go down. We had a bunch of guys get hurt in this game, and we fought.”
Speaking more about Mahomes’ injury, the 36-year-old shared, “And on a freakish play, to see one five go down like that, man, it f******, it was almost like it wasn’t real. And s*** just sucks, man.”
The Chiefs’ tight end lavished praise on Mahomes and called him a “fearless warrior.” Kelce also shared that his ACL surgery post-game went well and that he is on the road to recovery. Speaking on behalf of the team, the Chiefs TE shared, “He’s gonna make sure he’s gonna come back stronger than ever. Hopefully, the Chiefs can get him back as soon as possible.”
However, fans have caught on to Kelce’s use of “Chiefs” instead of “we” and are speculating in the comments that he is possibly considering retirement. One fan commented, “Hi saying the Chiefs like that and not “we” tells you all you need to know. This is his last season.” A second fan wrote, “Hopefully the Chiefs can get him back as soon as possible. I know he’s gonna be doing everything he can to get back out on that field for the Chiefs. Sounds like a man that won’t be playing next year.”
A third fan chimed in, “Interesting that he said ‘the Chiefs,’ as one looking in from the outside, but not ‘we.’ Plus, his countenance looks like a man who has made his decision that this will be his last year.” Finally, one fan penned, “I’m glad everyone else is also picking up on him saying ‘the Chiefs,’ not ‘we.’ He’s telling us without telling us.”
