It was in October that ex–Prince Andrew was reportedly ordered to vacate Royal Lodge. He was also stripped of his royal title, Duke of York. Though it has been almost three months since Andrew was asked to leave the royal mansion, reports suggest that his exit could take several more months.
According to sources, the former Duke of York reportedly has a habit of “hoarding” belongings. Along with ongoing ownership issues, regarding what belongs to him versus what belongs to the Crown, sources say that it would take months for his exit from Royal Lodge.
Ex-Prince Andrew’s hoarding habit is delaying the exit, claims source
As reported by Rob Shuter of #ShuterScoop, ex–Prince Andrew’s exit would not be that smooth and could take time because of his “hoarding” tendencies. Andrew, 65, was reportedly stripped of his royal title and ordered to leave Royal Lodge recently.
While the former prince has agreed to leave Royal Lodge, sources say that his exit will be delayed. This is mainly because he “hoards” a lot of things. A source said, “He’s a natural hoarder. Rooms are packed with papers, photographs, and personal collections. He wasn’t ready to accept help sorting through it.”
Sources also explained that some rooms are so full of belongings that it is challenging to catalog everything, making the inventory process slow. Moreover, palace staff are reportedly trying to identify which items belong to Andrew and which belong to the royal collection.
A royal insider explained, “Priceless artwork and antique furniture have been taken out first. Those belong to the Windsor family, not Andrew.”
Meanwhile, another source added, “There’s an ongoing debate over what he personally owns versus what belongs to the Crown.” This is why, as per the source, each and every item has to be “logged carefully” so that there are no disputes in the future.
Andrew, who will vacate his royal home soon, is expected to move to a smaller Sandringham property on a temporary basis. However, as per an insider, this won’t be “quick” at all. The tipster said, “With the hoarding and ownership issues, it’s going to take months.”
