Nick Reiner is struggling to process exactly what transpired last weekend. That’s according to a report that says his mental state is a little blurry while behind bars.
The son of Hollywood actor/director Rob Reiner is on trial for first-degree murder after his father and mother Michele, were found stabbed to death in their home on Sunday afternoon. Nick was arrested hours after the incident.
The screenwriter, who has a history of substance abuse issues, is the prime suspect in this case.
Nick Reiner is allegedly “calm” but “dazed” after his mom and dad’s murder

Perhaps due in part to his medical condition and the medication he takes, Nick’s state of mind right now is said to be foggy. A source with direct knowledge told TMZ that, while in prison, he’s “calm,” “cognizant,” and “dazed.” They add that he isn’t close to processing what happened to his parents.
His arraignment was supposed to take place on Tuesday, but it got delayed. That’s because, according to his lawyer Alan Jackson, Nick hadn’t been medically cleared to go to court. It recently came out that he was diagnosed with schizophrenia and that his new medication was reportedly making him act a little out of his head.
He and his father allegedly had a heated argument on Saturday while attending Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party. Sources say Nick had been acting “erratic” and “dangerous” in the weeks leading up to his parents’ death. He’d previously undergone treatment in a Los Angeles facility that specializes in substance abuse and mental health.
Apparently, his medication was changed weeks before his parents’ murder. Doctors were trying to adjust the meds. At his first court appearance, he uttered only three words to the judge when asked whether he understood the charges against him.
It’s expected that he will enter a not guilty plea by reason of insanity. If convicted, he could face a life behind bars or possibly the death penalty.
