Get ready for an Independence Day celebration like never before next year. That’s what President Donald Trump is promising when the United States celebrates 250 years since its foundation on July 4, 2026.
Throughout next year, Americans will experience plenty of events before and after July 4. That includes the Great American State Fair at the National Mall from June 25 to July 10. There will be a four-day competition, the Patriot Games, featuring high school male and female athletes.
That will take place in the fall, according to the President. The State Fair is drawing comparisons to the Hunger Games novels and series of films.
One young man and woman from each state will compete in President Trump’s Patriot Games
The President’s declaration for the State Fair is eerily similar to a popular movie franchise. In his video announcing all the big events, Donald stated that there would be “one young man and one young woman from each state and territory,” competing in the Patriot Games. In The Hunger Games, President Snow famously explained that it was decreed that “one young man and woman will fight to the death.”
The actor who played that role and delivered the famous quote was the late Canadian actor, Donald Sutherland. Donald Trump did say men and women will not compete against each other. As for the big Fourth of July celebrations, the President promised a spectacular flyover and the world’s largest fireworks display.
In addition, we will see a major event on Flag Day, June 14. That happens to be the same day that the President celebrates his 80th birthday. On that day, a special UFC event will be organized by CEO Dana White. UFC commentator Joe Rogan revealed an odd texting habit the President had in early December.
The Hunger Games has released five movies with a sixth set for release next year. The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping comes out on November 20.
