She’s not singing her way out of this one. Kata Hay, a contestant from The Voice, has been arrested for vehicular homicide. Cops from Goodlettsville, Tennessee, put out a warrant for her arrest earlier this week. Thanks to a Facebook post, cops wound up catching up with her a few states over, and unfortunately, this wasn’t her first brush with the law.
Kata Hay was picked up by Oklahoma authorities
Kata’s recent legal troubles started with a Facebook post from the Goodlettsville Police Department. They put up her picture, asking for the public’s help in locating her. They had a warrant for her arrest following her involvement in a car accident.
“We have reason to believe that she may be enroute to Oklahoma and traveling with a white male and quite possibly towing a large camper,” the post read.
Sure enough, cops wound up finding Kata in Oklahoma. They reportedly received tips from a “multitude of citizens,” who helped them find her location. They arrested and extradited her back to Tennessee.
According to TMZ, Kata has an open DUI case related to a car accident on December 10. She was charged with driving with an open container of alcohol. Her second charge was for leaving the scene of an accident with property damage estimated to be more than $1,500.
This incident in December marks Kata’s second DUI. She also spent a few months in jail in 2022 for making sexual advances towards a 16-year-old boy. She was 35 at the time.
Before Kata turned to this life of crime, she was a budding singer with songs like Smoke When I Drink and Contact High. In 2016, she competed on Season 10 of The Voice, earning a spot on Christina Aguilera’s team. She made it all the way to the Top 20, but clearly, a lot can change in ten years.
The Voice is streaming on Peacock.
