Jennifer Lawrence Changes Position on Publicly Discussing Her Children

Motherhood changes a lot, and for Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence, it has changed her perspective on discussing her kids publicly. The “Silver Lining Playbook” star initially avoided talking about her kids, but in a recent interview, she admitted that it was “impossible” not to do it.

Jennifer Lawrence now open to talking about her 2 kids

Jennifer Lawrence participated in The Hollywood Reporter‘s Actress Roundtable. Jessie Buckley, Amanda Seyfried, Cynthia Erivo, Laura Dern, and Renate Reinsve also participated in the annual interview. In the article published on December 19, Lawrence acknowledged her initial reluctance to discuss her kids.

The 35-year-old actress said, “I was surprised when I started doing this because I’ve always been really strict about, ‘I don’t want to talk about my kids.’ But it’s impossible not to, so I’ve landed on, ‘I will talk about my experience as a mother.’ But it did make me realize that it was not something I had considered.”

Lawrence shares two sons with husband Cooke Maroney, an art gallery director. The couple welcomed their first son, Cy, in February 2022, while their second son was born earlier this year. Starring in “Die My Love” also appeared to have impacted the actress’s stance to be more open about her kids.

In an interview with W. Magazine in November, Jennifer Lawrence revealed that she was pregnant with her second child while filming “Die My Love.” The psychological drama from Lynne Ramsay stars Lawrence as Grace, a new mother with severe postpartum depression and psychosis.

During the interview, the “Don’t Look Up” actress spoke about her own postpartum experience. She said, “When I had my first child, I felt completely connected to my baby. But I also realized the world wasn’t designed around that relationship.”

Lawrence also admitted that she shared that postpartum epiphany with Grace, adding that, over time, she may be able to distinguish which parts of her performance were acting and which stemmed directly from her own experience as a mother.
