It’s time for your weekly check-up with Medicine to Medicine, and there’s a lot to unpack. In last week’s episode, Dr. Contessa threw a $40,000 birthday party with zero help from her husband, only to turn around and shade Brandi’s less-complicated birthday dinner. Plus, Dr. Simone made a troubling confession about her marriage. She’s over it.

In Married to Medicine Season 12 Episode 4, “Trouble at Serenity Villa,” another couple’s relationship problems took center stage. Unfortunately for them, the entire cast was there to bear witness.

At Brandi’s birthday dinner, Simone continued to vent about the crisis unfolding in her home, and she learned she wasn’t the only person going through it. Later, Toya planned a “skip work day,” inviting everyone to her new home, Serenity Villa. Of course, it turned out to be everything but serene once the drinks started flowing. Grab your swimsuit, keep your mouth shut, and keep on reading for the full breakdown of this week’s episode.

When we last left off, Simone shook up Brandi’s dinner table with the revelation that she might be at a breaking point with Cecil. Dr. Jackie said it felt “disturbing” to hear, and we couldn’t agree more. But it was also disturbing watching Simone scream at the top of her lungs out of frustration at her family, so something’s gotta give.

Before leaving the party, Simone learned that she wasn’t the only person in the group dealing with some serious family trouble. Heavenly opened up to her about the situation with her son, and how she hasn’t seen him in months following their fight. Both ladies were in tears discussing their challenges.

Ultimately, the whole thing served as a reminder that although glamorous, strong, and successful, none of these women live perfect lives, and they’ve got real issues like the rest of us. The best they can do is be there for each other.

“We would all like to appear like we have our shit together,” Dr. Simone said in a confessional. “But the reality is, sh*t happens, and you can’t have it all together.”

Toya is feeling like a single mom

Another couple exemplifying the lesson that you can’t have all of your sh*t together is Dr. Eugene and Toya. Earlier this season, we learned that he was working at a hospital that’s five hours away from home. This week, we saw just how much of a toll that’s taking on Toya.

She confronted Eugene about his work schedule. The fact that he’s commuting hours away and spending more time at Holiday Inns is becoming a burden. She told him that she’s starting to feel like a single mom with the two boys at home.

Eugene’s stance was clear. Things aren’t going to change in the immediate future. He’s got to earn more money, and his distance away from home is a compromise. It’s not like that new house is going to pay for itself!

However, all work and no play will make anyone a little cranky, so Toya decided to plan a “skip work day” for all of the busy doctors to get together. It’s also a good excuse for her to showcase her new house, but it’s an idea that didn’t age well by the end of the episode.

One thing to love about Married to Medicine is that in between all of the shade and nonsense, there’s always a lot of heart. That’s why Mimi and Steve fit in perfectly. They feel like a much-needed wholesome presence, and now that they’re full-time cast members, we’re getting more of a glimpse into their home life. In this episode, we learned more about their kids and their unique challenges.

Mimi and Steve have a son and a daughter who are close in age. Their son is autistic. This week, the cameras rolled as they navigated a behavioral outburst, and we saw Steve and Mimi jump into parenting mode to try to smooth things over in the best way they could.

Like Simone pointed out earlier in the episode, no one is perfect. Mimi and Steve are doing their best, and they handled the situation like pros. Still, they both cried in their confessional talking about some of the challenges they’ve faced as parents to a special needs child. You’ve got to appreciate their honesty and vulnerability, and we look forward to seeing them share more of this important story as the season continues.

Welcome to Serenity Villa

The day of Toya’s party came around, and she and Dr. Heavenly spent the entire morning fighting in the M2M cast group chat. It all started when Toya sent a text about a “fake ass” Balenciaga purse someone left behind at Brandi’s party. The purse belonged to Heavenly, who quickly took the group chat to hell by going off on Toya about Eugene’s manhood being smaller than Damon’s. Mess.

That chaotic energy set the precedent for Toya’s housewarming party. Shade was in the air, but the party got started without a hitch. Everyone was excited to see the Harris family’s latest home, all the way down to the cherry blossom tree in Toya’s closet.

Things were going smoothly until Toya wanted to play a game with the group. Eugene didn’t want to participate because he was too busy sipping his drink and hanging out with the guys. Toya lost her mind. Perhaps drinks at Serenity Villa were flowing a little too strongly.

In front of the entire party, Toya yelled at Eugene like he was a disobedient child. It felt painfully awkward to watch, so you can only imagine how it must have felt at the party. This would have been your cue to get out of the pool and head out the back door.

By the end of the night, Toya and Eugene’s poolside fight suddenly become Heavenly’s fault. It’s hard to follow Toya’s drunken logic, but we’ll do our best.

When Toya yelled at Eugene, Heavenly and Mimi were on the sidelines trying to coach Toya out of it. They didn’t want to see their friend drunkenly belittle their husband, but Toya didn’t appreciate the feedback.

She went inside, sat under the cherry blossom tree in her closet, and tried to gather her thoughts. Somehow, that made things worse. When she came back out to the party, she had a full-blown crash out on her guests.

“You want to sit here and watch us go back and forth … Don’t make me list the shit I know about all of you,” Toya yelled at her guests, clearly pointing her tone at Heavenly.

Toya’s fit left everyone stunned. She then promptly went back inside the house, sat at her table, and started angrily eating a tiny little salad one of the oiled-up hunks served her earlier. Meanwhile, Heavenly, Mimi, and their husbands vacated the premises. The party was over.

As Toya sat there with her little salad and a perfectly untouched bundt cake, the rest of the ladies came to her side, comforting her, as if she were somehow the victim in all this. Somehow, through all of the tears and the yelling, Toya came to the conclusion that this was all Heavenly’s fault. Dr. Jackie saw right through it.

“Heavenly has definitely talked smack, but this is right now not about Heavenly,” Jackie noted in her confessional. “Toya has just gone off on Eugene in front of everybody else, and she’s probably feeling a little embarrassed.”

Still, Toya continued with her rant, blaming Heavenly for the night going sideways. Episode 12 ended with her trying to convince Angel and Brandi that they might end up in this same boat, should they continue rocking with Heavenly.

Toya asked, “Are you going to be next?”

Married to Medicine airs Sundays at 9/8c on Bravo. It streams the next day on Peacock.
