Pam Bondi Could Face ‘Inherent Contempt’ Over Epstein Files: Details

The US Attorney General is taking some heat regarding the Jeffrey Epstein files. Hundreds of thousands of documents were supposed to be made public in relation to the late disgraced sex offender on December 19. Only a portion of those files was released by the deadline, while much of it was reportedly redacted or withheld. Two members of Congress are putting Pam Bondi on blast as a result.

Representatives Ro Khanna and Tom Massie co-authored the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which President Donald Trump signed off on. The bill passed the Senate almost unanimously before receiving the required vote. Tom says they are working to “bring inherent contempt against Pam Bondi.”  The Department of Justice insists it is complying with its legal obligation.

A rarely used power could result in severe consequences for Pam. The inherent contempt power in Congress allows them to punish individuals who obstruct their legislative work. The punishments may include fines or jail time. It is something which has not been successfully used on someone since the 1930s.

On Sunday’s edition of CBS’s Face the Nation program, Tom said, “Basically, Ro Khanna and I are talking about and drafting that right now.” He adds that for him, the most expeditious way to get justice for victims in this matter is through inherent contempt. The President’s face in the files, were quietly removed upon release.

Todd said that he expects more documents to be released in the coming weeks. The Justice Department also defended its decision to remove at least 16 Epstein-related documents from its public website.
