Prince George took part in a rather special royal engagement last week. The 12-year-old, who – let’s be honest – would probably have preferred to stay at home playing Fortnite, visited a charity organization to volunteer for the day. It was probably a sentimental trip for Prince William. He made the same visit with his late mom, Princess Diana, three decades ago.
Prince George was taken to The Passage for the first time by his dad, Prince William
The future king took George to volunteer at the homeless charity for the day on December 16. The pair helped cook a Christmas meal for the organization’s guests.
It’s not the first time William has stopped by the center. He first visited with Diana back in December 1993. The mother and son also helped cook a meal, and signed the guestbook. George added his name to the book directly below his dad and grandma’s signatures during his visit.
A post on William’s official Instagram account commemorated the event. The caption reads: “Introducing Prince George to The Passage — and [head chef] Claudette. A huge thank you to everyone for your incredible work throughout the year and for continuing to inspire a shared commitment to preventing and ending homelessness in the UK.”
A video was also uploaded to the Prince and Princess of Wales’ YouTube account. The description reads: “The Prince of Wales and Prince George visit The Passage in Victoria to support preparations for its annual Christmas lunch. This marked the first time Prince William has taken Prince George to The Passage, a place that holds deep personal significance for him. It was here that his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, brought Prince William when he was 11 years old, an experience that helped inspire The Prince’s lifelong commitment to tackling homelessness and later the creation of Homewards, his programme demonstrating that it is possible to end homelessness.”
The young prince has reportedly begun training for his future role as king.
