Ex-Prince Andrew Faces Fresh Blow Over Gun License Amid Controversy — Source

Prince Andrew has suffered another setback after specialist police officers revoked his gun licence. The 65-year-old, now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, has agreed to surrender his firearm and shotgun certificate. The development follows a visit by firearms licensing officers to his Royal Lodge residence in Windsor, according to sources.

Andrew, a keen shooting enthusiast, regularly attended and hosted high-profile shooting weekends in the past. “He will now not be able to do things like use guns on his own or even transport them unless he is under strict supervision. It’s a real blow to him,” a source told The Sun.

Although police did not seize firearms from Andrew’s property, they imposed strict conditions. He can now only use or transport his shotguns if accompanied and under supervision. Another source confirmed that authorities placed firm controls on how the weapons are stored and who can access them.

The Met Police stated last week it would take no further action after its investigation found no “additional evidence of criminal acts or misconduct.” However, police added they remain “committed to thoroughly assessing any new information” related to the allegations.

Metropolitan Police officers, who are responsible for protecting royals and diplomats, reportedly visited Andrew at Royal Lodge in Windsor. Further, they subjected him to what sources described as a “pretty thorough” questioning. While officers did not seize his firearms at the time, they are believed to have placed strict limits on how the weapons were stored and who could access them. A police spokesperson confirmed, “The certificate was surrendered, and we will not be commenting any further at this stage.”

Andrew’s firearm issues come during an already turbulent period marked by decisions from his brother, King Charles III. Earlier this year, the King stripped Andrew of his remaining titles, and since then, the disgraced royal has stayed away from the traditional shooting parties at Windsor, Sandringham, and Balmoral. Sources say the situation is further complicated by Andrew’s expected move from the 30-room Royal Lodge.
