Podcaster Joe Rogan is receiving backlash after a clip resurfaced about the measles. The short video has gone viral on X (formerly Twitter).
In the clip, Joe discussed the disease’s symptoms and immunity patterns, which experts discredited as a fundamental misunderstanding of measles. In response, many criticized his comments.
Joe Rogan is accused of apparent health misinformation

The Joe Rogan Experience podcast host was spreading measles information when it was revealed that the symptoms and immunity patterns were actually those of chickenpox.
“It was an infection that everyone got when I was a kid and what happened was you’d get sick for a few days and then you’d be immune for life, and they were making it look like everyone’s dying from measles,” Joe said in the clip. “Like, no, if you’re dying from measles, you’re sick. You’re already compromised, which is exactly what happened with COVID. Where 90 f-cking plus percent of the people who died had 4 plus comorbidities.”
Those responding to the clip commented, “Maybe just maybe, people shouldn’t take medical advice from a guy who doesn’t know the difference between chicken pox and measles. Just a thought.” While another listener responded, “Pretty deadly mistake there @joerogan. I assume you’ll be making a public correction? Measles ≠ Chicken Pox.”
It was chickenpox that was quite common when Joe was a child. With this disease, children get sick for a few days, then develop immunity.
Joe was born in 1967, a time when the measles vaccines were widely distributed. This was no longer a disease that many were afflicted with, since, by that time, the disease was rare due to the vaccine. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, some people may suffer from severe complications with measles. This includes pneumonia and encephalitis, which is swelling of the brain. In extreme cases, they may need to be hospitalized and could die.
Joe has not yet responded to the backlash from his viral video comments.
