Tragedy seems to follow the Kennedys around everywhere. The famous family is dealing with yet another loss. Tatiana Schlossberg died of leukemia on Tuesday morning. Her family shared the sad news online.
Tatiana is the granddaughter of former President John F. Kennedy, who was assassinated during his time in office. She was an environmental journalist who published a book in 2019 titled Insonspicuous Consumption: The Environmental You Don’t Know You Have. In an essay published in the New York Times last month, the mother announced she was dying from myeloid leukemia. Tatiana was the daughter of Caroline Kennedy, the only surviving child remaining of JFK and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

Caroline’s worst fears are now a reality. The John F. Kennedy Library Foundation’s Instagram page announced Tatiana’s passing, adding, “she will always be in our hearts.” The journalist received her diagnosis after a blood test conducted following the May 2024 birth of her daughter. She and her now widower, George Moran, had two kids together, including their son Edwin, who is three years old.
Tatiana spent five weeks in the hospital undergoing chemotherapy and had two bone marrow transplants. Stem cells were also donated by her sister, Rose Schlossberg. According to Tatiana, the doctor told her during the clinical trials that they could keep her alive for maybe a year. She says that because of her condition, she couldn’t take care of her daughter because of the risk that her infection could spread.
Her death is another one on the long list of Kennedys who died young. Her grandfather JFK was shot and killed in his 40s, as was her great-uncle Robert F. Kennedy. Her uncle John F. Kennedy Jr. was 38 when he died in a plane crash. Back in October, the late Ted Kennedy’s first wife, Joan Bennett Kennedy, died peacefully in her sleep at 89. Tatiana was 35.
