The doctors are back after a holiday break, and good lord, things are still messy with this group. When we last saw the Married to Medicine crew, Toya was belittling her husband in front of a house full of guests, fully overshadowing what was supposed to be a housewarming party.
After the dust settled, Toya decided that Dr. Heavenly deserved the blame for the party going south, accusing her of trying to instigate the fight. In Married to Medicine Season 12 Episode 5, “Baggage Check,” the animosity between the ladies continued, and a path forward felt more unlikely than ever.
What happened in Married to Medicine Season 12 Episode 5?

After the disastrous housewarming party, Toya was forced to confront the realities of what really happened that night. Meanwhile, Dr. Simone had the bright idea to try to bring the group together by hosting a bag-making class. It also gave her a break from her serious marital woes at home. However, drama brewing in the messy M2M group chat threatened to pull the group back into the gutter.
The morning after the meltdown

The morning after Toya blew up her own housewarming party, the hangover started to set in. Episode 5 picked up with Eugene and Toya sipping margaritas and reflecting on the night before.
Of course, Eugene apologized for his role in the drama. He said he “misgauged” what the party meant to Toya. However, he also gently encouraged her to reflect on her behavior, which is always a challenge, to say the least.
Eugene explained that when Toya publicly disrespects him, it opens the door for the rest of the group to follow suit. Essentially, every jab gives Heavenly another chance to talk about Eugene’s penis size. We see it. The cast sees it. Eugene sees it. Toya is still struggling to see it.
Eventually, Toya conceded that she shouldn’t allow herself to get pulled into “negative scenarios,” whether it’s with Eugene or the women. She also admitted that she could give Eugene a few more words of affirmation moving forward.
Meanwhile, the ladies who were on the frontlines of the fight were also reflecting. At Brandi’s house, Mimi and Angel got together for a playdate with their kids. In between talking about their parenting woes, they unpacked the drama at Toya’s house.
While they sympathized with Toya in the moment, it was clear that they felt Toya drunkenly lost her cool. Mimi, who also caught some of Toya’s wrath, said that Toya seemed “delulu” and lacked “emotional maturity.” Welcome to Married to Medicine, ladies!
Simone has hit her breaking point.
A few episodes ago, Simone revealed that she and Cecil were back on the edge of divorce, largely influenced by how they financially support their adult children. In Episode 5, the cameras followed both of them as they vented to their siblings.
Simone sat down with her sister, and she explained that Cecil’s parenting approach relates back to his relationship with his own father. It’s a theory that Cecil basically confirmed in his conversation with his brother. In Cecil’s mind, it’s his duty as a Black father to ensure his kids never struggle the way he did.
In Cecil’s mind, it’s his obligation as a Black father to give his kids a life without struggle. In an impassioned speech, he explained that he didn’t want his kids to have to wait in the “financial aid” line to pay for their college the way he did.
But there’s a difference between a safety net and full-on coddling. Cecil has crossed it. His brother tried to explain that his partnership with Simone should come first, but it didn’t feel like Cecil was budging.
Meanwhile, Simone broke down in tears at lunch with her sister, admitting she’s at her “breaking point.” She doesn’t have any fight left in her, and with Cecil’s unwavering attitude, things are looking bleak for these two.
Is IVF taking a toll on Quad and King?

This week gave us another glimpse into Quad’s emotional IVF journey. The cameras rolled as she and King prepared to travel to Ghana for their third egg retrieval.
The ladies have been rallying around Quad, and heaven knows she needs it. King is visibly exhausted and is starting to mentally prepare Quad for the possibility of letting go of this dream. According to him, their transatlantic IVF journey has had a “significant impact” on their relationship.
He told Quad that at some point, she’ll need to consider how much time they’re losing chasing this goal. And it’s really starting to become clear that it’s her dream more than his.
A little Father’s Day shade

Remember in Episode 4 when Toya and Heavenly were fighting in the group chat over a fake bag left behind at Brandi’s birthday party? Unfortunately, that fake bag has returned to haunt us all.
Heavenly was so busy fleeing Serenity Villa that she forgot to grab the bag. Toya still had it, and Dr. Simone thought it would be cute to have a bag-making party to commemorate all of the mess.
Hilariously, history repeated itself, and Toya and Heavenly had another shady text message ahead of the event. The latest text drama played out on Father’s Day.
Toya sent a glowing message to the group about how grateful she was for Dr. Eugene. Heavenly replied, “Make sure you tell him that, preferably on camera.”
That’s solid advice, but it came from the wrong messenger. You better believe this came up at the bag-making party.
The husbands are ready for change

While the women argued over texts and bags, the husbands gathered at the Metcalfe house. Eugene revealed that they likely wouldn’t move forward with the office space in the unfinished building.
He then launched into a monologue about certain wives’ behavior (yes, Heavenly) becoming toxic. Curtis wasn’t here for that. He still hasn’t forgotten Toya’s handsy comments. No one’s innocent in this group… except maybe Mimi.
As usual, Damon stepped in as the voice of reason He called for change, but he doens’t think it needs to come from the husbands.
“You know what needs to change? The wives,” Damon said.
Without missing a beat, Eugene replied, “We got to change wives?”
Bags, bickering, and Dr. Jackie to the rescue
Proving Curtis’s point, Toya threw the first stone at the bag-making party. Before crafting began, she pulled out Heavenly’s fake leather bag and tried to shade her. Heavenly didn’t take the bait, but she did take her bag back — finally.
As the ladies stitched away on their new leather bags, the Father’s Day text resurfaced. Heavenly insisted that she wasn’t trying to be shady, explaining that the group feels uncomfortable when she disrespects her husband in front of them. Still, Toya made it clear that she took offense.
Per usual, things escalated between the two. Fortunately, Dr. Jackie stepped in with a sermon about the group’s toxic dynamic. She was visibly upset —so much that she started sweating through her deodorant.
“I’m really saddened right now that we’ve created this group where we can’t help each other,” Jackie said, before turning to Heavenly. “You and Toya have never been this broken before. And Heavenly, you don’t have to throw a boulder if they threw a rock.”
The ladies paused, cooled down, and agreed to move forward. And thanks to this bag-making event, they all have real leather bags that they can bond over instead of reading each other for carrying fake ones. Stay tuned to see how many episodes this latest truce can last.
Married to Medicine continues on Bravo on Sundays at 9/8c. You can stream it the next day on Peacock.
