Were Shots Fired at JD Vance’s Home After Man Attacked?

Following the news of an alleged attempted break in at JD Vance’s home, reports have emerged that shots were heard. A suspect has since been detained and faces multiple charges. So, what’s the truth? Were shots fired by either side? Here’s what we know about those rumors.

More details have emerged about the attempted break in at JD Vance’s house. While there have been several reports of shots being fired, there’s seemingly no truth to them.

A man was arrested for trying to enter the Vice President’s home on January 5, per Radar Online. The suspect was reportedly caught by Secret Service agents after they heard loud noises at around midnight. They then apparently found the man smashing a window with a hammer. Vance and his family weren’t at the residence at the time.

The suspect, since named as William DeFoor, has been charged with criminal damage and endangering, criminal trespass and obstructing official business, reports RO.

A source from the Cincinnati Police Department told the Daily Mail: “An adult male was taken into custody by the Cincinnati Police Department after being detained by US Secret Service personnel for causing property damage, including breaking windows on the exterior of a personal residence associated with the Vice President.”

The Vice President said of the incident on X: “I appreciate everyone’s well wishes about the attack at our home. As far as I can tell, a crazy person tried to break in by hammering the windows. I’m grateful to the Secret Service and the Cincinnati police for responding quickly.”

He added: “One request to the media: we try to protect our kids as much as possible from the realities of this life of public service. In that light, I am skeptical of the news value of plastering images of our home with holes in the windows.”

The $1.4million property is Vance’s second home.
