Tom Cruise‘s next personal life goal is focusing on his estranged daughter, Suri, per a new report. The pair have been estranged since 2012, following Cruise and Suri’s mother, Katie Holmes’ divorce. Notably, Suri even changed her last name from Cruise to her mother’s middle name, Noelle, underscoring their estrangement. Despite their estrangement, Cruise has reportedly been funding her university education, as stipulated by his 2012 divorce agreement with Holmes.

An insider told Heat World that Suri was the person whom Tom Cruise had to “make the biggest amends” to. They added, citing people close to Cruise, that his relationship with his daughter will be “his next big focus.”
The insider noted that the Mission: Impossible star, who reportedly split from Ana de Armas in October 2025, planned to reconnect with his daughter on the latter’s terms, with no intention of rehashing their painful past. They added that he is approaching their relationship with a “different mindset.”
“He’s been doing a lot of self-reflection,” the outlet further stated. “And says he’s not interested in control or looking to rewrite history. He just wants the chance to get to know her, to talk, and listen.” The outlet noted that the Jerry Maguire actor was certain about being a “positive” figure in Suri’s life.
They then shared that Cruise was being “incredibly careful” about reconnecting with Suri. The outlet noted he neither wanted to “cause her discomfort” nor “put pressure on her.” The outlet added that there wasn’t a possibility of him bringing up her mother or their painful past during their reconnection.
“He’s very clear that if she isn’t ready, he’ll accept that and step back,” the outlet shared. “But he’s hoping that this time will be different, that she’s now at a stage in life where she is ready to forge an adult relationship with him.”
The outlet shared that Cruise’s other children — Bella and Connor, adopted with his ex-wife Nicole Kidman — were concerned about him getting “hurt.” However, the actor assured the two that he was prepared for either of the aforementioned possibilities.
The outlet concluded that Cruise wasn’t prepared to “step aside and do nothing.” They added, “He just wants to know he’s given Suri every chance possible to come back into his life on her own terms.”
