Ashley Tisdale recently penned a blog about her former group of mom friends. Allegedly, these ladies turned “toxic” on Ashley. But after reading her blog, her fans had many questions. And at the top of their list, they all wanted to know one thing: Was Ashley talking about Hilary Duff?
Ashley and Hilary have known each other for nearly two decades, thanks to their early careers on the Disney Channel. Both mothers, they linked up, joined by other starlettes who were also experiencing similar life stages. But now that Ashley is spilling her tea about this group, her fans are sorting through her words, trying to discern if Hilary, among other household names, might be named. Thankfully, a rep for Ashley has already chimed in on this rumor, so let’s recap this mess and get to the bottom of this drama.
Ashley Tisdale wrote a blog about a “toxic” mom group
Ashley has touched on her former “toxic” friend group on two separate occasions. The first time, she spoke through her personal blog, writing, “Mom groups can turn toxic. Not because the moms themselves are toxic people, but because the dynamic shifts into an ugly place with mean-girl behavior.”
Several beats later, Ashley published an essay on this very same topic in The Cut. Here, she noted how important connections were for both her and her two young daughters. As she revealed, one of her friends knew that she was seeking these bonds, so they brought her into their friend group, which felt like the perfect match for Ashley. “By the time we started getting together for playdates and got the group chat going, I was certain that I’d found my village,” she wrote.
But over time, “I was starting to feel frozen out of the group, noticing every way that they seemed to exclude me,” Ashley admitted. Their icy treatment made Ashley feel like she wasn’t “cool” enough, lowkey like she was back in the “tenth grade.”
Realizing that she needed to set an example for her two young daughters, Ashley decided to address her so-called mom friends. “So that’s exactly what I texted to the group after being left out of yet another group hang: ‘This is too high school for me, and I don’t want to take part in it anymore.’”
But then, an unknown source came forward, calling Ashley’s words into question. Reportedly, during the LA wildfires last year, “multiple members of the group were impacted.” But Ashley “hardly checked in.” According to this source, it was Ashley’s behaviours that “created an extremely toxic dynamic” instead.
Hilary Duff fans think she and other high-profile names could be involved

Ashley never named names in either of her articles. But fans are going to fan, and in doing so, many suspected that Ashley was talking about Hilary. However, Hilary wasn’t the only famous name they suggested here. According to these internet sleuths, the chances that Ashley was also talking about Mandy Moore are equally high.
Mandy and Hilary are still tight. Just last month, these two stars bundled up with their kids and headed over to Holiday Road in Calabasas, California. Here, they looked at all of the blinking holiday lights, cheerfully tagging each other online. Notably absent, however, was Ashley.
Cue fans, reporting that, hot on the heels of her latest article with The Cut, Ashley has unfollowed both Mandy and Hilary on Instagram. As people have also noted, singer Megan Trainor is also part of this friend group. However, the last time we checked, Megan and Ashley were still following each other, so, until we hear otherwise, we will mark their friendship down as safe.
But what about Hilary and Mandy? Was Ashley talking about them? Could they be the “toxic” moms in question?
A rep for Ashley shut down the rumor

Ashley has heard her fans’ reactions, which also include rumors that her political leanings might have played a role here. These chatters linked Ashley to the MAGA movement. So now, Ashley is ready to set the record straight. Meaning, her reps reached out to TMZ.
Ashley’s team promptly shut down both rumors. For starters, Ashley was allegedly not writing about Hilary or Mandy, they claimed. As this person shared, Ashley penned her latest article, Breaking Up With My Toxic Mom Group, as a way to relate to other women, because let’s face it, female friendships aren’t always easy. As they further stressed, right-leaning politics were never a part of this equation, as Ashley is supposedly a registered Democrat.
Ashley has “never considered the moms to be bad people (maybe one), but I do think our group dynamic stopped being healthy and positive – for me anyway.”
