Ashley Tisdale on Leaving ‘Toxic Mom Group’: ‘Too High School for Me’

Ashley Tisdale‘s comment about “toxic mom groups” has recently caught everyone’s attention. She opened up about her experience in her personal blog post before publishing an essay on the topic. The former Disney actor mentioned that she was relieved when she befriended new celebrity moms. While the community initially kept her sane, she felt it soon started to leave her out of group hangouts. Eventually, the mother of two left the group telling the other moms that it was “too high school” for her.

Ashley Tisdale claims she didn’t want to be a part of ‘toxic mom group’ anymore

Ashley Tisdale recently opened up about her experience with a “toxic mom group” in her blog post, By Ashley French. In it, she wrote, “Mom groups can turn toxic. Not because the moms themselves are toxic people, but because the dynamic shifts into an ugly place with mean-girl behavior.”

Later, the “Suite Life of Zack & Cody” alum published an essay on the same topic in The Cut. In it, she explained that when her first daughter was born, she wanted to connect with new moms who might be going through a similar experience. Luckily, one of her friends introduced her to a group of new mothers.

Tisdale was impressed with the women who managed their work-life balance remarkably well. “By the time we started getting together for playdates and got the group chat going, I was certain that I’d found my village,” she wrote.

However, after some time, the dynamic changed as she felt she was being left out of group hangouts and dinner parties. “I was starting to feel frozen out of the group, noticing every way that they seemed to exclude me,” the diva mentioned. Although she initially didn’t pay much attention to it, she felt a “growing distance” between her and the other moms.

Tisdale revealed that she questioned herself if she was being ignored because she was not “cool” enough. For her, it felt like she was back in “tenth grade.” As a student, she was not “confident enough to speak up.” But now she thought of setting an example for her two daughters.

“So that’s exactly what I texted to the group after being left out from yet another group hang: ‘This is too high school for me and I don’t want to take part in it anymore,’” Tisdale shared.
