Gwyneth Paltrow’s breakup with Chris Martin had an impact on her acting career. The co-star of Marty Supreme admits that her separation from the Coldplay singer caused her to lose a job.
She admits that she’d been “fired” from a movie in 2014. Gwyneth said that because of the bad publicity surrounding their separation, producers felt it wasn’t ideal to have her involved. Gwyneth and Chris officially divorced in July 2016 after over a decade of marriage. The former couple have two kids together who were born in the first decade of the 2000s: a daughter, Apple, and a son, Moses.
Gwyneth says she was “fired” after her Chris Martin “conscious uncoupling” announcement

While at the time it probably wasn’t funny, Gwyneth is having a good laugh about the tumultuous time she had following her and Chris’s separation. “So that was great because I was getting a divorce, and then I got fired off,” she sarcastically said on the podcast Good Hang with Amy Poehler. She labelled her breakup with Chris as a “conscious uncoupling,” which led to her losing that gig.
Looking back on that, Gwyneth says she understands why some people had such a negative reaction to her. She says that it makes sense that there might be concern about her doing a movie at that time.
In December, she admitted to declining sex scenes with Ethan Hawke during the filming of Great Expectations. The year after that film, in 1998, she starred in Shakespeare in Love, winning an Academy Award for Best Actress.
Although things didn’t work out between her and Chris, Gwyneth admits they remain close and are co-parenting their kids. Her latest film, Marty Supreme, earned three Golden Globe nominations, including one for Best Motion Picture in the Musical or Comedy category.
