Jimmy Kimmel clearly isn’t worried about feeling the wrath of Donald Trump again. The TV host joked about the President’s seemingly lackluster ratings for his recent telecast last night. In the opening monologue of his show, Jimmy slammed Trump’s “lowest-rated Kennedy Center Honors telecast of all time.” The President had previously bragged about the broadcast being a success.
Jimmy wants President Trump to retire to Mar-a-Lago
Jimmy mocked Trump for his low-rated turn hosting the Kennedy Center Honors ceremony. He told the audience: “After boasting about what a great host he is – and how much better he is than I am – and how huge his ratings would be – Trump hosted the lowest-rated Kennedy Center Honors telecast of all time. Let me tell you something, I’d hate to be the White House intern who had to tear that headline out of all the papers and eat `em.”
He also suggested Trump – whom he recently gave a scathing nickname – retire, adding: “You know, as I recall, he said he would step down if this happened, right? He said, ‘If I can’t beat out Jimmy Kimmel, then I don’t think I should be president.’ Well, hey! A deal is a deal! Back to Mar-A-Lago you go!”
Last month, Trump told the media: “We have never had a president hosting the awards before. This is the first. I’m sure they’ll give me great reviews, right? You know, they’ll say he was horrible. He was terrible. It was a horrible situation. No, we’ll do fine,” per Deadline.
He also called out Jimmy, saying of his hosting skills: “Jimmy Kimmel was horrible, and some of these people. If I can’t beat out Jimmy Kimmel in terms of talent, then I don’t think I should be president.”
Jimmy’s wife, Molly McNearney, also slammed Trump recently for being “thin-skinned.“
