Per a report by PEOPLE, Amy Schumer filed for divorce from Chris Fischer on January 6 in New York County court. The couple tied the knot in February 2018 in a star-studded wedding ceremony in Malibu, California. In a now-deleted Instagram post on December 12 (via Parade), Schumer had shared the news of her separation.
Alongside a photo of her and Fischer riding a New York City subway, the 44-year-old wrote, “Blah blah blah Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years. We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son. We would appreciate people respecting our privacy at this time.”
Finally, she concluded the post writing, “Amicable and all love and respect! Family forever.” The couple shares a six-year-old son named Gene, whom they welcomed in 2019. As Schumer stated in her post, she and Fischer have no hard feelings for each other and plan to co-parent their son.
In November, a source close to Schumer and Fischer had told PEOPLE that they were “working through” some marital issues. The source said, “They’re privately working through normal issues that couples in long-term marriages have. They are both committed to the relationship.”
