Ben Affleck’s ex-gf Gwyneth Paltrow recently looked back on their past romance. The actress shared a rare anecdote about that phase of her life, making a subtle reference to her highly publicized relationship with the Gone Girl actor.

In a recent appearance on Amy Poehler’s “Good Hang” podcast, Gwyneth Paltrow made a rare comment about her ex-boyfriend Ben Affleck. The “Shakespeare in Love” actor mentioned Affleck while reminiscing about her friendship with the late actor and comedian Robin Williams.

“I only got to know him a bit when ‘Good Will Hunting’ came out [in 1997] because I was dating one of the people who wrote that movie and was in that movie,” Paltrow recalled. Poehler noted the reference to Affleck, chiming, “We’re well aware.”

The duo went on to gush about Good Will Hunting, with Poehler calling it a “fantastic Boston movie.” Paltrow joined in, stating, “I love that movie. It’s a perfect movie. I love it so much.”

Paltrow and Affleck began dating in October 1997 after meeting at a Miramax dinner. The pair went on to work together in the 1998 movie “Shakespeare in Love”, which won Paltrow the Academy Award for Best Actress. Speaking with Poehler, she shared that they were together during the release of Good Will Hunting.

In 1999, Paltrow and Affleck called it quits for the first time before getting back together soon after. They separated for good in October 2000 and have remained on friendly terms since.

Following her split from Affleck, Paltrow began dating Coldplay frontman Chris Martin in 2002 and tied the knot a year later. The couple shares two children, their daughter Apple and son Moses. After a decade of marriage, they announced their separation in 2014, with Paltrow famously describing it as a “conscious uncoupling,” The two continue to maintain a cordial relationship.
