Elle Fanning shared a fainting anecdote of her own from the 2019 Cannes Film Festival. The Super 8 actress got reminiscent about the time she fainted at Cannes during her interview with W Magazine. “Yes, my dress was too tight,” she told the outlet. “My sister was sitting at another table, and she saw my chair just completely fall back. It’s kind of hilarious — very dramatic.”
“Colin Firth was there, and he rushed to my side. It was the talk of the festival”, the Sentimental Value actress further revealed.
Calling the incident “hilarious”, Fanning explained that she has a history of fainting. “In school, I would faint a lot,” the 27-year-old shared. “I grew, like, seven inches in one year, and I guess my body was growing so much that I got altitude sickness”.
Elle Fanning was attending the 2019 Cannes Film Festival as a main juror. The dramatic moment occurred at the Chopard Trophee dinner. According to Variety, she had fainted and fallen from her chair just as Festival director Thierry Fremaux was introducing actor Francois Civil onstage.
Fanning was wearing a beautiful pink Prada gown with red, pink, and blue flowers. Thankfully, Colin Firth was there to rush to her side, making it “the talk of the festival”.
Addressing concerns after the health scare, the The Great actress had shared a reassuring post on Instagram. “Oops, had a fainting spell tonight in my 1950’s Prada prom dress but it’s all good,” she captioned the post, which showed her giving a thumbs up. Fanning explained she fainted because her dress was too tight, and it was also that “#timeofthemonth.” The post was flooded with support comments from both fans and celebrities.
