A Venezuelan opposition leader thinks Donald Trump deserves a special honor for his efforts in her homeland. The President captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro last week, with the US also reportedly firing airstrikes against Venezuela. Maria Corina Machado fully supports the President in these moves.
The 2025 Nobel Peace Prize winner believes Donald should have that honor. Regarding her Peace Prize, she says she’d like to “give it to him (Donald) and share it with him.” Maria got the award for her tireless efforts for peace in Venezuela and around the world. Donald’s Secretary of State Marco Rubio supported her nomination for the award last year.
Maria Corina Machado wants President Trump to take the award for his Venezuela actions

The President’s actions in Venezuela have not gone unnoticed. Speaking to Sean Hannity on Fox News Hannity Maria said she’d like to share her Peace Prize with Trump “because this is a prize of the Venezuelan people.” In the past, she has praised Donald for his support in her fight for democracy in Venezuela.
Trump has previously said that the Peace Prize winner called him and said he deserved it, though it didn’t specifically name Maria. Maria says that she will be returning to South America very soon. She adds that she left the country believing to be more useful to the democratic cause outside Venezuela for now.
Nicolás and his wife are currently on trial in New York, facing drug trafficking and weapons charges. They are being held in a Brooklyn prison.
While Maria fully approves of the President’s actions in her home country, some weren’t on board. Marjorie Taylor Greene is a former Congresswoman and former friend of the President who was once fully on board with the Make America Great Again (MAGA) slogan. She called the capture of Nicolás a betrayal of MAGA. She believes the governments would be better served by focusing on their own countries.
