Rob and Michele Reiner’s Son Nick Loses His Lawyer in Shock Turn of Events

Nick Reiner must trust in someone else to defend him in his murder trial. The son of Rob and Michele Reiner is facing first-degree murder charges in the deaths of his parents last month.

Not long after his arrest, the screenwriter appointed Alan Jackson to defend him, a prominent lawyer who famously got Karen Read acquitted of murder in the death of her boyfriend John O’Keefe. Nick, who was due to be arraigned on Wednesday, will now have new representation.

As he fights for his freedom, Nick Reiner must entrust someone else to help him. On Wednesday, TMZ reported that Alan had withdrawn from the case, wishing his client the very best as he left. He did say that his now former client was innocent.

Nick’s new attorney is public defender Kimberly Greene, who has 19 years of experience. The judge signed off on the change on Wednesday. Many feel that Nick may plead not guilty by reason of insanity in this case. He had a long history of drug and alcohol abuse problems and had been in rehab many times.

Schizoaffective disorder is what the writer of Being Charlie may suffer from. The day before his parents’ death, Nick reportedly had a heated argument with his father at a Christmas Party hosted by Conan O’Brien. Rob and Michele were reportedly at their wits’ end on what to do with Nick.

Rob and Michele’s daughter Romy found them dead in their Brentwood home in December. Nick only made one court appearance before, when the judge asked him if he understood the charges against him, something Nick had acknowledged he did.

With the change in lawyers, Nick next court appearance is set for February 23.
