Survivor has always been a game of strategy, and even deception and betrayal. The goal is to outwit and outlast everyone else. However, there are still rules for the game. And according to finalist Sage Ahrens-Nichols of Survivor 49, some players broke those rules and cheated during the pregame period.
Sophi Balerdi and Jake Latimer are facing big Survivor accusations
Sage has been slowly spilling tea online. At first, she didn’t name names but said that there was cheating during Survivor 49, specifically during the pregame at Ponderosa. Eventually, Sage named Sophi Balerdi or Blue Sophi and Jake Latimer as the two pregame cheaters.
According to her, Sophi and Jake were already communicating and reaching out to Survivor alums and crafting narratives while the players were sequestered. Sage alludes that the two would meet at night and prepare ahead of time.
To clarify, players are sequestered at Ponderosa before the game begins. They are not allowed to communicate with one another or strategize for the upcoming game. In fact, Survivor 49 already had issues with players breaking the rules before the game even started.
According to Survivor host Jeff Probst, two initial cast members were removed for crossing the line and replaced with alternates before the show even began. If Sage’s allegations are true, then more than two players were breaking rules. Some rumors said that only two players were removed because only two alternates are kept on hand as replacements.
At the moment, these are just allegations and rumors. Time will tell if Sage is telling the truth. She is expecting Sophi and Jake to flat-out deny the cheating allegations.
In the end, it doesn’t appear to have mattered. If Jake and Sophi did collude, it could definitely have impacted the way the game went. In the end, though, neither of them emerged victorious. Savannah Louie was crowned the ultimate Survivor.
