Travis Kelce’s latest comments have spawned widespread belief among fans about his future. The thought for a while has been that the Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end will retire from football at the end of the 2025 season. His team played their final game on Sunday, losing 14-12 to the Las Vegas Raiders.
On Wednesday, Travis told his brother Jason Kelce on their show that he is officially jobless. That leaves many believing that the man soon to wed Taylor Swift is calling it a career.
The Chiefs missed the playoffs this season after making it to three consecutive Super Bowls, winning twice.
Travis Kelce called the New Heights podcast his “only job”

Travis has one focus right now, and that’s his podcast. On the latest episode of New Heights, he said, “This is my only job.” His brother asked for clarification on whether he was quitting football, but Travis reiterated that New Heights is the only company that employs him right now.
Given the injuries Travis has suffered over the years, the fame he’s gained from his relationship with Taylor, and the multiple TV appearances he’s had, many believe this is the right time for him to leave the game. In December, sports pundit Stephen A. Smith predicted Travis would retire when the season was over.
Travis’ contract with the Kansas City Chiefs is due to expire this year. He’s played 13 seasons in the NFL. By most people’s estimation, will be a first ballot Hall of Famer when his career ends. He’s won three Super Bowls alongside quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Given the rough 2025 season the Chiefs had, a small amount of people suggest Travis doesn’t want to leave the game that way. He made just 76 catches in 2025, the fewest of his NFL career since 2015 (72). Travis has been a First-team All-Pro tight end on four occasions.
