John Legend will reportedly be present at L.A. Reid’s trial. The musician is apparently set to stand as a witness at the hearing next week. Record executive Drew Dixon has accused the media mogul of sexually assaulting her when the pair worked together in 2001.
John Legend is reportedly appearing as a witness in L.A. Reid’s trial

John is set to serve as a witness at the trial, according to a report by Page Six. Drew has accused Reid of sexually assaulting her twice when they both worked for Arista. She was vice president of A&R at the time, while he was the president of the record label.
Drew also alleges that Reid stalled her career after she made it clear she wasn’t interested in him romantically. She said her career in the industry never fully recovered, despite having worked with big names like Whitney Houston and Santana. She also claims he prevented the signing of John as another way to get back at her. Reid denies the allegations.
Drew also accused Def Jam co-founder Russell Simmons of raping her in 2017. She claims the alleged assault happened in 1997. She also brought a defamation case against him in 2024 after he made comments suggesting she was lying and may have a “thirst for fame.”
Drew has been a vocal advocate for justice for survivors of assault by powerful figures in the music industry. In 2020, she said of her own decision to seek justice: “I spent so much time trying not to be a rape victim that I actually was victimizing myself by trapping myself in this tiny little playable area of this tiny little corner of the gameboard or the desktop that was the only space that I allowed myself to operate in because I didn’t want to accidentally bleed out of my little secret cover-up for his sake, thinking it was for my sake too,” per The Wrap.
On a rather more wholesome note, John and his family recently enjoyed a visit to a pretty unusual attraction.
