Viral Post Suggests “Medieval” Solution to Trump’s Greenland Crisis

A viral post on social media suggests that Barron Trump should marry Princess Isabella of Denmark as a potential solution for the Greenland crisis. Donald Trump has repeatedly called for the United States to annex the mineral-rich territory, with the president telling reporters earlier this month that the country “needs Greenland from the standpoint of national security.” Tensions have continued to escalate as Trump actively discusses a potential offer to purchase Greenland from Denmark or use military force to take the country if diplomacy fails, something that has given singer Björk “horror chills.”

Proposed Barron Trump marriage called “medieval fan-fiction”

A post from a user on X (formerly Twitter) has gone viral after proposing a “simple diplomatic solution” of having Barron Trump marry Princess Isabella, with Denmark giving Greenland to the United States as a dowry payment.

At the time of writing, the social media post has since garnered over 7 million views, 136,000 likes, and thousands of replies.

Some users reacted favorably to the suggestion, with one calling it “out of the box thinking” and another calling it an “elegant solution.” One reply reminded people that political marriages have been used throughout history to solve conflicts: “This is how we in Austria resolved conflicts in the good old days of the Habsburg monarchy.”

However, others compared this would-be marriage between Barron Trump and Princess Isabella to the ill-fated marriage between Joffrey Baratheon and Margaery Tyrell in Game of Thrones.

Another user made a reply with over 1,500 likes that didn’t find the suggestion to be a laughing matter. “That is not geopolitics, that is medieval fan-fiction,” the user wrote. “Greenland is not a bargaining chip, Princess Isabella of Denmark is not a pawn, and Barron Trump is not a diplomatic tool. Nations are not exchanged through marriages, this is not the 1400s.”

Any proposed marriage with Barron Trump would have to go through Melania Trump as well, and she’s known to be very protective of her son.
