Donald Trump wants John Harbaugh to be rehired
The Baltimore Ravens let go of John Harbaugh on January 6 after 18 years of serving as the team’s head coach. President Donald Trump has now called for the NFL to re-hire the coach in an impassioned Truth Social post.
“HIRE JOHN HARBAUGH, FAST,” Trump penned on a post on Wednesday, January 7. He added, “HE, AND HIS BROTHER, ARE TOTAL WINNERS!!!”
Harbaugh met Trump in July 2025 when he visited the White House. The trip sparked backlash as people slammed the former Ravens coach for visiting the President, who has called Baltimore a “disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess” in the past.
However, Harbaugh defended himself, calling the meeting “an amazing experience.” He told the press, “It’s not often you get a chance to do something like that as a family. We were there, my daughter was there, Jim’s daughters were there. My mom and dad were there. My mom and President Trump, you know, seeing how he treated her was really meaningful.”
John Harbaugh recently issued an official statement regarding his departure from the Baltimore Ravens. “Well, I was hoping for a different kind of message on my last day here someday, but that day has come today,” he said. The coach continued, “It comes with disappointment certainly, but more with GRATITUDE & APPRECIATION.
Harbaugh concluded on an emotional note, stating, “Gratitude to the owner and organization who was willing to bring in a head coach who made his mark with special teams success – a difficult thing to do … and appreciation for all the moments, all these years, that are etched into eternity.”
Raven’s owner, Steve Bisciotti, also shared a public statement to bid farewell to Harbaugh. “This was an incredibly difficult decision, given the tremendous 18 years we have spent together and the profound respect I have for John as a coach and, most importantly, as a great man of integrity,” he said.
